Due to the nature of my work, I am unable to disclose confidential details of private transactions. However, I can share publicly available information on my involvement in M&A, project finance, and due diligence across the mining sector, as well as some general insights into other projects I have worked on.
Publicly Available Transactions
- Sale of Exxon’s mining assets in Chile (early 2000s) – Participated in the team responsible for evaluating and selling Exxon’s mining assets in Chile.
- Sale of Tintaya from BHP Billiton to Xstrata (2006, US$750M) – Involved in the valuation and sale process of Tintaya while at BHP. Additionally, I contributed to the assessment of approximately 10 early-stage projects, resulting in two completed transactions through option contracts (~US$20M each).
- New project acquisition process at Mitsui (2008-2012) – Led the identification and evaluation of 21+ advanced-stage projects, of which 10 progressed to non-binding/binding offers (range US$100M – US$300M for 10%-30% stakes).
- Bid for Michiquillay (2019, US$89M for 49%) – Mitsui and Nippon Mining jointly bid for this Peruvian asset.
- Acquisition of Anglo American Sur (2011-2012, Mitsui & Codelco JV, US$2.8B) – Part of the deal structuring team. The JV ultimately secured ~26% of the asset.
- Acquisition of Caserones (Mitsui & Nippon Mining) – Participated in the evaluation process and acquisition. Stake acquired was 25% for ~200MUS$. Capex was >4BUS$.
- Lithium project in Maricunga Salar (Chile) – Mitsui, Posco, Daewoo, and Li3 Energy collaborated on a lithium project development initiative.
Exploration & Project Evaluation Experience
nGen-ko Resources (2018-2020) – As CEO, led the development of an exploration-stage project in Chile, overseeing a US$25M budget and executing multiple minor mining title transactions.
Grupo BAL (2019-2021) – Evaluated several South American mining Copper projects ranges 100MUS$ to 4BUS$. no deal completed.
SLR Consulting (2020-Present) – Advising lenders and investors on the valuation and due diligence of mining projects worldwide. While I cannot disclose specific names, my project scope spans multiple commodities and investment scales, ranging from a few million dollars to hundreds of millions in CAPEX.

- Iron Ore – Currently acting as Independent Technical Consultant for two iron ore projects in Mauritania.

- Critical & Industrial Minerals – Involvement in phosphate (Saudi Arabia), lithium (Chile), potash (UK, Spain, Israel), and rare earths.
- Base Metals – Project evaluations in Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Côte d’Ivoire, Indonesia, and Australia.
- Coal & Bulk Commodities – Financial and technical advisory in China, Turkey, Poland, and South Africa.
